Steve Holzer
In the late 1980's, Steve was experimenting with early scientific computer systems, integrating cutting edge technology into imagery in printmaking. By the early '90s, after establishing a working vocabulary of patterns derived from cell growth and conceptual mathematics, he developed a new monotype technique of chemically transferring computer-generated images to archival paper. During the years of this exciting expression of contemporary art imagery (1995-1997), he also developed rendering techniques in the field of computer animation. Creating special effects for feature films "pSpecies," "Independence Day," "Space Jam"), ESPN College Football broadcasts, and television advertising.
Utilizing recently introduced technology, his work expanded into large format IRIS prints. By 1997-2004 Steve was inventing new creative techniques involving silkscreen and computer assisted metal cutting (for sculptures and printmaking templates). Eventually translating computer generated information into small- and large-scale paintings, continuing to experiment with methods and materials.
