The Big Read event at Tillie Arts

We along with the rest of Marfa and the United States celebrated the big read in February. At Tillie’s we had a Bless Me Ultima themed Pot Luck. Catered by The Blackwell School Alums and the community, Marfans came together to celebrate the joy of reading and community.

The artwork was wonderful and the building was a fine complement. Amazingly enough, it was all finished just in the nick of time.

Tillie Arts Building Up to Open

Tillie Arts is getting a major facelift. Renovations began a month ago and we are almost finished with the inside gallery space.
Loft, ceiling, office areas

The 17′ walls are all getting a fresh sheetrocking as well as a new paint job, a new brushed tin metal ceiling and museum quallity halogen track lighting.

South WALL

We put in a new staircase to allow maximum use of the great big open floor space,

The loft area which will be utilized for installation and housing artists looks out over the re-construction:

Four rolling walls, two 8′ x 8′, and two 8′ x 10′, will be situated in the middle of the floor space adding that much more wall space for art.

North Wall and Ceiling

Drop down halogen lights will come from the ceiling and running mood lights hang out above that.
